Your opportunity to win a prestigious award

The European Coalition for People living with Obesity (ECPO) and the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO) are pleased to announce the 2024 awards programme for European activities held in conjunction with World Obesity Day.

The Awards are presented annually in recognition of excellence, innovation and best practice in advancing the understanding of obesity, and the importance of its prevention and treatment.

The purpose of the awards

The EASO and ECPO Awards are part of our activities to support the development of a stronger and more successful obesity community throughout Europe. In creating a high profile, wide reaching and very well-respected awards programme we strive to create a stronger community by:

  • Drawing attention to Europe’s best practices
  • Sharing learning and experiences
  • Stimulating the debate

Who can enter?

You are encouraged to enter the awards yourself or on behalf of your organisation, but you can also nominate others for any of the award categories.

All categories are open to ECPO and EASO National Members, campaign supporters, related disease and patient organisations, support groups, members of the medical profession, patients and other individuals.

The Award categories

The ECPO Award for The Best Patient Engagement Programme

For the best engagement with patients with obesity in Europe. This could include supporting patients who have obesity or providing help and information for those who are recovering from the disease. Open to European patient organisations, support groups, members of the medical profession and individuals.

The ECPO Award for The Best Public Engagement Programme

In recognition of awareness and information building about obesity and its treatment. Such engagement could include for example, a traditional or social media campaign, or the organisation a public event in conjunction with World Obesity Day in Europe.

The EASO Award for The Best National Training Programme

In recognition of excellence for obesity management training organised in Europe. It may have been conducted nationally, regionally, or locally and may be awarded to organisations or individuals.

The EASO Award for The Best Collaborative Project

For the best collaborative approach to promoting World Obesity Day Europe. Have you held an excellent event in conjunction with other partners for example? Or have you found another novel way of collaborating with others to draw attention to and promote this very important day in the obesity calendar?

The ECPO Award for the Best Media Engagement

In recognition of mainstream media coverage related to World Obesity Day Europe.

The ECPO Award for the Best Social Media Engagement

In recognition of social media activities related to World Obesity Day Europe.

The ECPO Award for the best obesity-related Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) organisation participation and engagement

For activities and publicity related to World Obesity Day Europe.

Eligible initiatives

Initiatives must have been promoted as being in conjunction with World Obesity Day 2024.

Although World Obesity Day is a focal point for many ECPO and EASO activities, initiatives take place throughout the year, and many are held in the months beforehand and the weeks immediately afterwards.

The closing date for entries is Monday May 6, 2024 and initiatives can have taken place, or have started, at any time during the previous 10 months.

The judges

All entries will be judged by a panel consisting of representatives from ECPO and EASO

The winners and trophies

Winners will be announced in later in 2024 and arrangements will be made to present each category winner with a certificate and trophy.

If you are able to provide photographs, press cuttings, posters, or other evidence of your initiative, you are likely to increase your chances of winning.
